Miguel Otero-Iglesias
  • Lecture «Global Uncertainty and the Cooperative Advantage: Navigating a New Geopolitical Era»

Miguel Otero-Iglesias is Senior Fellow in International Political Economy at the Elcano Royal Institute in Madrid. He is also a Professor of Practice at IE University and Research Director at the IE Center for the Governance of Change. His research focuses on international political economy, global financial governance, and the dynamics of the European Monetary Union.
In the past, he has held research and teaching positions at the London School of Economics (LSE), the University of Oxford, and the ESSCA School of Management in Paris. He has been a regular visiting research fellow at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in Beijing and has provided expert input for international media such as the New York Times, Bloomberg, and the Financial Times. Dr. Otero-Iglesias holds an MA in International Relations from the University of Manchester and a PhD in International Political Economy from Oxford Brookes University (UK).

Benjamin Huybrechts

Benjamin Huybrechts is Professor at IESEG School of Management (Lille), where he participates in the IESEG Centre for Organizational Responsibility (ICOR). Before joining IESEG, he worked as Associate Professor at emlyon business school and at the University of Liège (Centre for Social Economy, HEC Liège). His research deals with alternative organizations that deploy an economic activity to serve the community and society as a whole – with a focus on cooperatives and social enterprises.
His recent work focuses on the partnerships and networks that these organizations form to pursue societal transformation, in fields such as fair trade, community-based renewable energy, recycling and local food. He serves as an Editor at the Journal of Business Ethics (“Social entrepreneurship and ethics” section) and his work has been published both in specialized journals such as the Annals of Public and Cooperative Economics and the Social Enterprise Journal, and in management and organization journals such as the Academy of Management Annals, the Journal of Management Studies, and Organization Studies.

Tine De Moor

Tine De Moor is Professor of Social Enterprises and Institutions for Collecive Action at Erasmus University Rotterdam. Her research focuses on the long-term development of collective action, cooperatives, and commons institutions, combining historical and interdisciplinary approaches. De Moor has published widely in leading journals and books on collective governance and community-based organization. Her work has received international recognition for advancing the understanding of how cooperative structures emerge and function over time.

Darinka Czischke

Dr Darinka Czischke is Associate Professor of Housing and Social Sustainability at the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment at Delft University of Technology. She is lead author of TOGETHER: Towards Collaborative Living (nai010, Rotterdam) and has been awarded both the Delft Technology Fellowship (2014) and the VIDI Talent Grant from the Dutch Research Council (2024). She founded the Co‑Lab Research Group at TU Delft and co‑founded the Collaborative Housing working group within the European Network for Housing Research (ENHR).
She currently serves as vice‑chair of the ENHR, as a member of the management team of the Delft Design for Values Institute, and on the advisory board of Cooplink, the national network of housing cooperatives in the Netherlands. Her previous roles include Director of World Habitat, Research Director of the European Social Housing Observatory at Housing Europe, and Research Associate at LSE Cities at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Dr Czischke has published extensively on social, affordable, and collaborative housing from an international comparative perspective. Her current research examines how evolving societal values shape housing systems, with a particular focus on enabling just and sustainable transitions.

Antonio Luque

Antonio Luque is the President of Dcoop, one of Europe’s largest second-tier cooperatives and a global leader in olive oil and table olive production. Under his leadership, Dcoop has successfully integrated more than 200 primary cooperatives across Andalusia, Castilla-La Mancha, Castilla y León, the Valencian Community, the Basque Country, and Extremadura. In 2024, the group’s turnover reached 1.555 billion euros, diversifying its activities into sectors such as wine, nuts, cereals, and livestock.
An Agricultural Engineer from the University of Cordoba and personally connected to olive farming through family tradition, Luque has been a decisive figure in shaping the Spanish agricultural sector. His strategic vision has enabled the Spanish cooperative model to compete successfully in international markets, consistently defending the profitability of family-run farms.
In addition to his work at Dcoop, he has held high-level institutional positions, including the presidency of the Fundación Patrimonio Comunal Olivarero, establishing himself as a benchmark in the defense of farmers’ interests and in sustainable rural development.
