Cooperativa de Viver

Cooperativa de Viver is a collective project that has successfully evolved to address the challenges facing agriculture and rural communities. During the visit to its facilities, participants will learn first-hand about its history, evolution and cooperative governance model, as well as the wide range of activities it carries out. They will also have the opportunity to ask questions and exchange ideas.

Founded in 1990 in the Alto Palancia region, in the inland province of Castellón, Cooperativa de Viver currently brings together more than 500 producer and consumer members. Originally established around the production of extra virgin olive oil, it has grown into a comprehensive agri-food cooperative whose activities encompass olive, grape, almond and walnut production, as well as a range of services for its members and the wider local community.

One of the most notable aspects of its evolution has been its ability to diversify while preserving its agricultural identity and strong local roots. The Cooperative has helped revive Viver’s winemaking tradition, developed and marketed its own products, expanded the services it provides and introduced new agritourism experiences that bring farming and wine and olive oil culture closer to the general public.
